An advert for Rihanna’s latest fragrance, called Rogue, has been restricted in the UK to areas where kids won’t see the “sexually suggestive” picture.
According to a report in the
Guardian, the advert (featured below) received one complaint for being overly sexual and demeaning to women and for featuring a "sexualised and provocative" image.
However, the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said that image of Rihanna looking directly at the camera gave the pop-star an air "of defiance rather than vulnerability”. They continued by saying that the ad was "unlikely to be demeaning to women or to cause serious or widespread offence."
So while the ad hasn’t been banned, it has been restricted to areas where children are unlikely to see it.

According to the ASA: “"While we did not consider the image to be overtly sexual, we considered that Rihanna's pose, with her legs raised in the air, was provocative.
"Because of this, and the fact that Rihanna appeared to be naked except for high heels, we concluded that the ad was sexually suggestive and should have been given a placement restriction to reduce the possibility of it being seen by children."
While Rihanna's latest ad might be a tad provocative, the dress she wore earlier this week
was downright NSFW.
