One of Ireland’s top models Nadia Forde talked to JOE about what girls want in a guy, skinny jeans, first dates and going nude…
JOE: What do you look for in a guy?
Nadia Forde: Honestly, it’s honesty…even it’s brutal honesty! Sometimes, even if I don’t won’t to hear it, I’ll still admire a person for being honest.
A sense of humour too!
Probably someone who isn’t too sensitive too as I’m probably sensitive enough for two people!
And finally someone who is just fun and loves a bit of spontaneity.
JOE: What would be a good first date for you?
NF: Ooooh… I don’t know because even from talking to my friends, I think a first date can tell you a lot about a guy, so it’s interesting to see what guys do when they bring you out on a first date and stuff… It’s a good indicator of what kind of person they are.
Personally I just like a good dinner and a glass or two of wine and just a chat really. It doesn’t have to be too extreme, it can be something easy like a homecooked meal!
If I was to bring someone out I’d do something quite chilled out and get to talk to someone and see if they’re interesting enough to get date number two.
The cinema is the worst, worst, worst idea for a first date, it’s pointless because you can’t even talk – that’s for down the line.
JOE: I asked you what you look for in guys, what doesn’t impress you Nadia?
NF: Liars.
Liars and someone that it feels like I’m trying to pull conversations from them and it’s like “Come on!”
I like someone who can hold their own and are confident about meeting people and you don’t have to worry about them you know?
JOE: A regular complaint amongst guys and girls is that the only place you’re going to meet someone is in a nightclub in Ireland. Do you have any suggestions of anywhere else you could meet someone?
NF: Oh I think anywhere.
I mean I rarely go out. You know… you can meet them at work… in a garage – anywhere. [Laughs]
Yeah, just filling up your car, in the airport – endless possibilities!
JOE: Any preference for a style of clothes a guy wears?
NF: No, but I like a personality, something a bit different…
Once it represents them, I quite like that.
I always find you can kind of tell what kind of person they are by what they wear. I especially find that with men – they kind of pick what they like and don’t follow trends.
JOE: Where do you stand on the whole skinny jeans debate?
NF: It depends on the person, I think some guys can pull them off and some guys can’t.
It depends on their personality and their own little styles they’ve got going on.
JOE: A common complaint amongst guys is that a lot of girls will say they want certain things, but they then go for a completely different type of guy than what they say they’re looking for, do you find that yourself?
NF: Emm… I don’t know.
I’m single so I can’t really say what I actually go for in the end.
JOE: Okay on to recent news, do you remember when Brian Cowen admitted that he smoked Cannabis in college and it became Carté Blanche for every journalist to ask every senior politician in the country if they ever did any drugs for a while?
NF: No I don’t actually!
JOE: Okay that ruins my segue… but given that Rosanna Davison recently did her Playboy shoot…it kind of gives us journalists a chance to ask every model in the country if they would ever consider doing a nude photoshoot. What about yourself?
NF: Well firstly I think Rosanna’s pictures are unbelievable and she looks unreal!
Literally I actually texted her and I was like “Rosanna the picture are incredible.” It would be amazing to have those pictures to look back on and then in ten, twenty years and go “I used to look like that,” that’s pretty cool for her!
I loved the way they were styled, I loved the natural beach element…Emm but my own personal thing is I don’t think I’d be brave enough to do something like that!
I also have always had a thing that I’d never go topless or go nude, because for me, I’m kind of happy just to have that for myself or my partner or whatever.
I just wouldn’t be brave enough…I think I literally said that to Rosanna in the text – I was like “I think you’re so brave for making a choice like that, I wish I could be like that.”
It’s a personal choice and I just think her pictures are unbelievable!
Somethings are just for you and the person you’re with, for me anyway! I don’t what everybody looking at my boobs you know! [Laughs]
JOE: Okay thanks for all the advice you gave there, we’ll start the interview now….
NF: [Laughs] no problem!
