Very impressed…
Clare defeated Limerick on Sunday to book their place in the Munster Final, with that man, Shane O’Donnell, once again scoring crucial goals.
Two green flags from O’Donnell early on in the game laid the foundation for the Banner’s 3-17 to 2-16 win.
Limerick did recover from these early blows and brought it back level but Clare were never behind in this game from the fourth minute onwards and although there’s no doubting this was a decent contest, Clare held on to secure their deserved victory.
The game was televised on Sky Sports which, of course, opens the game up to the vast British market who were sitting at home on their Sunday afternoon with the TV on. Many (probably all, realistically) were seeing this for the first time.
We can imagine seeing the sport of hurling for the first time can be quite the shock to the system, and as Jason Statham once said, it might look like “hockey mixed with murder.”

From the outside, it may look like just lawlessness and an absence of any real rules… and that’s what many of the people watching seemed to think.
But mostly, they were impressed by the ferocity of the “tough old game”.
This Irish Hurling semi final is not for the faint hearted. Tough old game.

Watching the hurling malarkey. Is there a point to the game apart from Irish blokes battering each other with over sized hockey sticks?
