Calling young learner drivers – we’ve got 12 EDT driving lessons and €2,000 worth of car insurance up for grabs

For so many, little in life can compare to the moment you pass your driving test.

There's a feeling of accomplishment, of course. You've spent months studying driving theory, taking lessons and getting your ducks in a row, and now you can give yourself a well-earned pat on the back.

There's also a deep sense of independence that comes with passing your test. You no longer need to rely on buses or trains. Now, it's just you, the open road and a plethora of possibilities.

We understand just how much money, time and effort goes into that moment when you finally pass your test, which is why we've teamed up with AXA and the Irish School of Motoring to make the journey a great deal easier for one JOE reader.

The Prize

To celebrate 10 years of partnership between AXA and ISM, we're giving one learner driver (between the ages of 18-24, must have a valid learner's licence) a prize that will get their driving journey off to a flying start.

The winner will receive 12 Essential Driver Training lessons with a RSA-approved driving instructor through the Irish School of Motoring. These lessons, which are mandatory, give learners the strong foundation required to become a better and safer driver. The winner will take two one-hour lessons per week in an Irish School of Motoring car. Each lesson will have a different focus, including car controls and safety checks, correct positioning, changing direction, progression management, anticipation and reaction, sharing the road, driving safely through traffic, driving calmly and night driving. The winner will also be sharing their driving journey progress along the way.

As well as the 12 EDT lessons, the lucky winner will receive up to €2,000 towards AXA Car Insurance, which is rated 4.5 stars out of 5 by customers across Ireland.

The Partnership

Beyond this competition, AXA Insurance and the Irish School of Motoring are committed to helping learner drivers get on the road. Right now, learner drivers who have an AXA policy can get 12 lessons with the Irish School of Motoring for €545. And, when they complete their lessons within one year, they can get up to €400 off their insurance policy. If you don't have your own policy, you can get up to 50% off the additional premium as named driver on someone else's policy, up to €400.
