We’ve curated an itinerary to help you get the most out of your next short break in Ireland.

The song may say it’s a “long way to Tipperary” but when you get there, boy is it worth it.

The Premier County is known for its friendliness and relaxed pace, but it’s also stacked with things to see and do.

Satisfy your thirst for adventure with a bike-ride along the banks of the River Suir, follow in the footsteps of GAA giants at a one-of-a-kind museum and get competitive with a round of mini-golf – it’s all waiting for you in Tipperary.

To hype you up for your next short break in Ireland’s Ancient East, we’ve developed a three-day itinerary complete with must-see attractions, activities and plenty of locals serving up top-notch food.

Day One

Set yourself up for a top-tier day one with lunch at Mikey Ryan’s Bar and Kitchen in Cashel. Tuck into a beer-battered haddock or a bacon burger and fuel yourself for the day ahead.

Your next port-of-call is Swiss Cottage Tipperary in Cahir for a glimpse into times gone by. Built in the early 1800s, this cottage has rustic charm in droves with a thatched roof and a beautifully preserved interior.

Day one’s final attraction is the magnificent architectural powerhouse that is Cahir Castle. With the audio-visual tour, you will awaken centuries of history and discover why it was once considered impregnable.

Finish off the day with dinner at the award-winning Galtee Inn. Get a good night’s sleep because you’ll need a lot of energy in the tank to prepare you for a jam-packed few days.

Day Two

Kick-start day two with a hearty breakfast in the Junction Café in Clonmel before heading to the Tipperary Museum of Hidden History. Home to one of the largest museum collections in Ireland this lesser-known cultural gem is packed with charm, character and plenty of surprises.

After your visit, let your competitive side shine with a round of mini golf at Mythical Legends Adventures at Slievnamon Golf Club. This club is not only home to a themed mini golf course, but it also offers a heap of other activities including go-karting, an obstacle course and throwing games.

Head back to Clonmel for a spot of lunch at Cluain Restaurant. After all, you’ll need a good meal for the day’s final activity – a cycle along the Suir Blueway. Journey to the nearby town of Carrick-on-Suir, rent a bike from Blueway Bike Hire and cruise along the 21-kilometre cycle path.

Day Three

The final day of your getaway may be here, but there is still plenty to discover in Tipperary.

Get the ball rolling on day three with a visit to Lár na Páirce Museum and hear the story of the Gaelic Games. This unique museum is home to a number of prized GAA memorabilia, including the oldest hurling trophy.

Afterwards, settle into the Wytchway Inn and Restaurant for some much-needed fuel for the final activity on your Tipperary itinerary – a horse-riding lesson at the Crossogue Equestrian Centre. Here, an experienced trainer will show you the ropes and get you saddled up for a horse-back ride across the peaceful countryside.

So, what are you waiting for? Gear up for a getaway in Co. Tipperary today.
