A Look Back with An Post
2024 has been a rollercoaster of great moments that will go down in Irish history. To celebrate a year filled with unforgettable memories, we hit the streets of Dublin with An Post to ask the people about their standout moments from the past 12 months. From cultural triumphs to the uniquely Irish kind of humour that had us all in stitches, the responses were as vibrant and varied as the people themselves.
Irish Olympic Heroes Welcomed Home in Style
For the first time ever, the Irish Olympic Team received a civic reception upon their return home, and it was well deserved. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, they brought home an incredible seven medals—four gold and three bronze. Showcasing our island’s phenomenal sporting talent.
A Summer of Brats and Drama
Brat Summer swept the nation, with everyone embracing their inner diva. Whether it was dramatic TikToks or holiday antics, it gave us all permission to act like the main character— have to love Charli xcx.
The Oscars may as well have been in Ireland!
Cillian Murphy brought home another accolade for Oppenheimer, Barry Keoghan stole the spotlight both on-screen and with his romance with Sabrina Carpenter, and Irish representation at the Oscars was truly something to behold. It was a banner year for Irish talent, making us prouder than ever.
Dublin to New York
The infamous portal to New York from O’Connell Street… we all knew as soon as it went up, it wasn’t going to be pretty. But it was going to be an endless stream of content! Hilarious clips, inappropriate jokes, and a bunch of confused Americans. What more could you want?
England Not Winning the Euros
Petty? Maybe. Satisfying? Absolutely. It’s the little things that keep us smiling.
Spreading Festive Cheer, the Old-Fashioned Way
In the spirit of Christmas, An Post helped us give out cards so people could send handwritten messages to their loved ones. In a world of WhatsApps and quick texts, it was a lovely way to reconnect with tradition and spread some festive cheer.
Remember, the last day for posting a card in Ireland is the 22nd of December! So make sure to get your stamps and your card posted by then.
What Was Your Top Moment of 2024?
This campaign with An Post wasn’t just about nostalgia; it was a celebration of what makes Ireland, well, Ireland. From the humour and creativity to the world-class talent, 2024 will be a year we’ll be talking about for a long time to come.
