Movies on TV this evening

It’s Thursday.

We’ve almost made it to another weekend and that in itself is cause for celebration in 2021. At this point, it’s OK to just simply manage and if you’re finding things tough, here’s a list of numbers which may be of use to you or others.

  • Samaritans: 116 123
  • Aware: 1800 804 848
  • Pieta House: 1800 247 247
  • Jigsaw: 1800 544729
  • Alone: 0818 222 024
  • Childline: 1800 666 666

We’re here to take a look at the best movies on TV this evening and it’s a bit of a mixed bag to be perfectly honest.

Have a look below and see what you think.

The Lone Ranger – BBC Four – 9pm

A lawyer (Armie Hammer) is left for dead after an ambush in which his Texas ranger brother is killed, but is saved by a mysterious Native American fugitive (Johnny Depp).

Helena Bonham-Carter also stars, which is a plus because she’s always brilliant.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – Film4 – 9pm

While this is a passable effort, we’d recommend checking out the Jack Ryan series on Amazon Prime. It’s much better.

Mean Machine – Comedy Central – 10pm

Football is the real winner at the end of the day.

Conan The Barbarian – ITV4 – 10.30pm

The first of two Arnold Schwarzenegger movies on TV tonight sees Arnie set off to find the sorcerer responsible for the genocide of his family and people.

True Lies – Film4 – 11.10pm

Arnie stars alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in what is one of his best action movies.

Although even by action movie standards, it’s all quite ridiculous.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
