Spooky season is well and truly upon us.

Not in 3D. Whether that’s fortunate or unfortunate is up to you.
2001: A Space Odyssey – Turner Classic Movies – 11.15pm
Stanley Kubrick’s epic sci-fi that has influenced thousands of filmmakers.
The Color Purple – BBC Two – 11.15pm
Our top pick for tonight is a classic in Spielberg’s back catalogue, and also introduced the world to Whoopi Goldberg.
Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, the film is a powerful drama following the life of Celie Harris, and the life of African-American women in the early 20th century.
The film was a box office smash, topping end-of-year lists, with Goldberg’s performance cited as part of the movie’s success.

A dramatic Aussie crime thriller inspired by a real crime family in Melbourne.
