Amazon Prime Video has just added 37 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

From big Oscar-winners to big, BIG explosions…

If you’ve got a Prime Video subscription, then you probably already know that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has suddenly got VERY good lately!

If you’ve watched that already, then we’ve also put together this list of 100 movies that are less than 100 minutes, in case you’re on the look out for something good… but brief!

And now that we’ve brought all of that to your attention, here are the new movie additions to Prime Video this week, starting with…

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU

Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt headline this very charming updated adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew (The titles rhyme, see?).

27 DRESSES

Katherine Heigl stars in this okay-ish rom-com, and is always the bridesmaid, never the bride, for a specific number of times.

(500) DAYS OF SUMMER

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (again), and he’s his own villain in this cute but frustrating rom-com.

A BIGGER SPLASH

Two couples – Tilda Swinton & Matthias Schoenaerts and Ralph Fiennes & Dakota Johnson – with complicated histories cross paths with each other while on holiday in Italy. Highly recommended.

THE A-TEAM

A mostly all-star (Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Patrick Wilson, etc.) remake of the hit TV series. It’s alright.

ARMAGEDDON

Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck are some deep-sea oil drillers who are sent into space to try to blow up an asteroid before it hits Earth. One of the most ridiculously dumb action movies ever made.

BABY DRIVER

Too-cool-for-its-own-good car chase/heist movie with Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx and… Kevin Spacey.

BAD BOYS / BAD BOYS II

Before he makes his big post-slap comeback, check out the first two entries in Will Smith’s very popular action franchise.

BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are great in this still-really-funny sci-fi comedy.

BLACK SWAN

A great, dark psychological horror, with a highly pressurised ballerina (Natalie Portman) beginning to question her sanity during the build up to a big performance.

THE BUTLER

Based on the true story of a butler (here played by Forest Whitaker) who served under a number of different Presidents in the White House, and his POV on the constantly changing America.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS

A great voice cast bring their A-game in this hyperactive and inventive animated comedy.

COLD PURSUIT

One of the better Liam Neeson revenge thrillers of recent years, mostly because it mixes in a good dash of dark humour, as he hunts down the criminals he believes are responsible for his son’s death.

THE DARK TOWER

Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey star in this adaptation of Stephen King’s most-loved series of books… and it was a huge, HUGE flop.

DRIVING MISS DAISY

Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy are the driver and his passenger in this 1989 Oscar-magnet.

ENOUGH

Tired of living in fear of her abusive husband, a woman (Jennifer Lopez) begins to physically prepare herself for the fight for her life. 22% on Rotten Tomatoes.

THE EXPENDABLES / THE EXPENDABLE 2 / THE EXPENDABLES 3

The fourth one of these – which is apparently really called Expend4bles – is due to arrive in cinemas before this year is over.

HOSTAGE

A former hostage negotiator (Bruce Willis) is called up to help out with a hostage situation, which may end up putting his own family in danger. Absolutely terrible.

THE INTERN

Realising retirement isn’t for him, Robert DeNiro applies to be an intern for the boss (Anne Hathaway) of an online fashion site. Actually pretty entertaining, truth be told.

IT: CHAPTER ONE

Before Chapter Two fucked it all up, this had the makings of a properly epic King adaptation. Props to Bill Skarsgard for his truly creepy portrayal as Pennywise.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH

Brendan Fraser tries to find his missing brother, but happens across a mysterious lost world instead. A solid 3 out of 5 movie.

KILLING THEM SOFTLY

Released in 2012, the last feature film before the director released Netflix’s highly controversial Blonde this month, this Brad Pitt-fronted dark thriller has continued gathering defenders in the decade since release.

THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

The cult classic musical comedy. Just as weird and enjoyable now as it was back then.

LOVE & MERCY

Following the life of The Beach Boys’ frontman Brian Wilson, from his younger days (played by Paul Dano), to two decades later (played by John Cusack), as he struggles with mental illness.

MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM

Idris Elba portrays Nelson Mandela in this good-but-not-great biopic.

MIRROR MIRROR

An eye-poppingly beautiful take on the Snow White tale, with Julia Roberts having a blast as the evil queen.

PAPILLION

Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek replace Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman in this remake of the true-life prison drama. 52% on Rotten Tomatoes is about right.

THE PURGE / THE PURGE ANARCHY / THE PURGE ELECTION YEAR

The first three Purge movies, if you – for some reason – want to have a Purge binge.

THE SECRET OF ROAN INISH

Set in Donegal, this 1994 release tells the story of a young woman and her possible interactions with a “selkie”, those particularly Irish mythical creatures that appear as seals, but can shed their skin to become human. 94% on Rotten Tomatoes!

SELMA

David Oyelowo stars as Martin Luther King Jr., based around the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery voting rights marches. A very powerful watch.

THE SOUND OF 007

As part of the James Bond celebration – which also sees all 25 Bond movies added to Prime Video today – this documentary does a deep dive on the history of the music of Bond.

SNOWPIERCER

Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton headline this absolutely brilliant sci-fi action thriller set on a constantly moving train during an ice-age’y post-apocalypse.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Conor Sketches | Tiger Woods loves Ger Loughnane and cosplaying as Charles LeClerc
