What does ‘home’ mean to you?
RTÉ is inviting members of the public to share their experiences of what home means to them in the current housing crisis as part of a new documentary.
The national broadcaster is casting the net far and wide in their search for submissions from the public and want to hear from people of all ages happy to elaborate on their idea of ‘home’, from those who have lived in houses large or small, from students leaving their family home for the first time and from emigrants looking at returning home at a time when rents are at record levels.
Filming is expected to take place in August and September for the documentary, which is expected to air in mid-autumn.
A spokesperson for the producers behind the documentary said: “The idea of home and housing is part of the Irish national psyche. From our obsession with house prices during the Celtic Tiger to the hugely difficult conditions of the current housing crisis, every one of us has a different story to tell of life at home in 2019.
“The beauty of this documentary idea is that there is no one fixed idea of what home can mean. We would love to hear from anyone who is interested in sharing their story with us on RTE TV.”
