We can rule out UFOs, don’t worry.

Gardaí are at the grounds of Moyle Park College secondary school in Clondalkin, Dublin, after being alerted to “an item falling from the sky” at roughly 6.20pm this evening (21 May).

While the Gardaí would not confirm media reports that the item in question is the door of an Irish Defence Forces Air Corps helicopter, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said “a number of witnesses contacted Gardaí in Clondalkin to confirm a large item landed in the grounds” of the school, and that Gardaí remain at the scene in an investigative capacity.

Video footage from the scene sees a witness claim that an army helicopter flew overhead, and that the witness saw the door come off it and fall to the ground. Imagery from the video also appears to corroborate that the door belongs to an Irish Air Corps helicopter.

Gardaí have confirmed that nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
