The incident took place in the very early hours of Tuesday morning.
Gardaí were called to the scene of a reported suspect device at approximately 12.30am on Tuesday 23 July.
The device was discovered outside a house in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10.
Homes in the surrounding area were evacuated and the scene preserved for the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
The suspect device has been seized by EOD for examination.
Enquiries are still ongoing.
