Man airlifted to Tallaght hospital following serious collision between van and lorry in Monaghan

A man in his 40s sustained serious injuries in the collision on Thursday.

A man in his 40s was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin on Thursday following a serious collision between a van and a lorry in Monaghan.

The collision occurred on the N2 at Lisseagh near Emyvale at approximately 3.40pm on Thursday (2 July). The driver of the van was seriously injured and was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital. His condition is understood to be serious.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Gardaí in Monaghan are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone with information is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station at (047) 77200 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.

The stretch of road at the crash site remains closed and traffic diversions are in place. Garda forensic collision investigators are expected to complete an examination of the scene on Friday morning.
