The incident took place late on Monday night.

Gardaí have arrested a man in his late 20s for suspected endangerment and a number of road traffic offences following an incident in Tallaght in Dublin on Monday, 9 December.

At approximately 10.20pm, Gardaí from Tallaght attempted to stop a car at Rossfield Avenue in Tallaght.

The car failed to stop and it collided with patrol cars before leaving the scene at a high speed, heading in the direction of the M50.

Following a pursuit involving a number of Garda units and the Air Support Unit, the occupants of the car were arrested following a controlled stop on the M50.

The driver of the car, a man in his late 20s, is currently being detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tallaght Garda Station.

A female passenger in her 30s, who was in the car at the time, has also been detained.

The car was also found to have been fitted with false registration plates and has been seized for forensic and technical examination.

Two patrol cars were damaged during the incident, with one Garda narrowly avoiding serious injury when the suspect car initially fled from Gardaí at Rossfield Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing.
