Met Éireann issues fog warning for 12 counties

Some chilly days ahead.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow fog warning for 12 counties on Thursday.

The warning, issued at 11am on Wednesday, is valid from 5am until 10am on Thursday morning.

Met Éireann said there will be a risk of dense fog across Leinster.

Thursday will be cold and sunny for western and northern areas while many parts of Leinster may see fog lingering for much of the day.

Temperatures overnight will drop as far as -1 in some areas.

The rest of the week is promised cold and settled with many counties experiencing frosty weather before milder and wetter weather spreads from the south over the weekend.

Friday will be cold with frost and fog lingering in the morning in some areas before clearing with some bright spells in the afternoon. Overall it will be dry, although there will be some showers in the north west of the country.

It will be cool with temperatures of between 5 and 9 degrees.

Most places will see a cold, dry and bright day on Saturday with temperatures of between 6 and 8 degrees.

Sunday will be milder some sunny spells developing by afternoon with top temperatures of 10 degrees.
