Police investigating attempted ATM robbery in Antrim

The attempted robbery took place in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police are currently investigating an attempt to rob an ATM in Antrim.

The attempted robbery happened at a petrol station in the Largy Road area of Ahoghill at approximately 2.05 am on Friday.

According to the PSNI, a car, said to be a dark-coloured Vauxhall Vectra, rammed the outside shutters of the shop a number of times.

A male then got out of the car and attempted to break into the ATM inside, but he was unsuccessful and escaped in his car.

Police are calling on anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area between 2.05 am and 2.25 am to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Lenaghan said: “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0900 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
