Met Éireann and the UK Met Office, along with their storm naming partner KNMI (the Dutch National Weather Service) have unveiled the list of names for the 2019-20 storm season.
This summer, Met Éireann and the UK Met Office received thousands of suggestions from the public following a call for people to send in ideas for future storm names.
You’d know people were voting during the summer anyway, given the inclusion of the name Maura.
Another standout name from the list is Iris, as we’re sure there’s an “eye of the storm” joke to be made there.
The full list of storm names for 2019-20 is: Atiyah, Brendan, Ciara, Dennis, Ellen, Francis, Gerda, Hugh, Iris, Jan, Kitty, Liam, Maura, Noah, Olivia, Piet, Róisín, Samir, Tara, Vince and Willow.

First introduced in 2015, the Name our Storms campaign has helped raise awareness of the threat and impact of severe weather in Ireland and Britain before it hits.
A storm is named by a National Met Service when Orange or Red level winds are forecast to impact over a wide land area. Orange or Red level gusts can occur in exposed areas without the event being named.
