It’s a cold one.
Two separate weather warnings are in effect in Ireland on Tuesday as Ireland prepares for some wintry weather.
A Status Yellow snow and ice warning came into effect on Tuesday morning at 6am and will remain in place until 9am on Wednesday morning.
The forecaster said wintry showers, which will primarily be made up of hail and sleet, will become increasingly widespread during Tuesday and will lead to some icy patches. But some snow accumulations will also occur.
A Status Yellow wind warning was also issued for Kerry and Clare, which will come into effect on Tuesday at 2pm until 11pm the same evening.
Met Éireann said gusts of up to 100km/h can be expected in these two counties.
There’s been little respite from the rain in Ireland over the last week to 10 days. Rainfalls are at one and a half to four times above the normal levels for this time of year, with the midlands the worst affected.
Sunshine amounts around the country have been below average for the most part with Shannon Airport recording just 11.7 hours of sunshine through the the seven days until Monday this week. This is just 68% of its average for this time of the year.
While temperatures for this time of year have been slightly above average lately, it’s expected these will fall to 2 or 3 degrees below the mean through Tuesday and the coming days.
