Kinahan extradition flight the most tracked in the world

The alleged gangland was on board the Government jet returning from Dubai while 43,000 were tracking it's path online.

Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 showed it was the most followed flight in the world at the time.

Kinahan was flown into Casement Aerodrome airport in Baldonnel at 6.30pm amid huge media speculation and tracking.

It took off from Dubai at 10.20am Irish time and flew direct to Dublin.

Kinahan was arrested upon landing by Detective Sergeant Colin Davidson of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau at 6.49pm.

He was taken straight to the Criminal Courts of Justice on Parkgate Street where he was accused of directing the Kinahan Organised Crime Group. He had no solicitor and made no bail application.

He was remanded in custody at Portlaoise Prison until October. He will be kept separate from other inmates.

Portlaoise Prison is currently running at 120pc capacity and overcrowding is said to be putting a strain on the Irish Prison Service amid hot weather and tempers flaring as inmates are forced to sleep on the floor.
