Furry friend makes a chaotic cameo in the background of engagement video

A couple’s romantic engagement moment quickly turned to a viral video when their golden retriever, Scout, made a tumultuous appearance.

The Midwestern couple captured their engagement on video, and it now has over 4 million views on TikTok, due to their chaotic furry friend.

What started as a heartwarming video announcement quickly became an internet sensation after Scout is seen tumbling down the river rapids in the background.

“Scout was just swimming and got too close to the rapids as I proposed,” Kenlyn told Newsweek.

In the viral TikTok posted last week, Scout can be seen floating down the fast-moving river rapids in the background, taking all the attention away from the newly engaged couple.

Fortunately, Scout was unharmed, as they helped him out of the water just moments later.

Kenlyn continued: “He’s more than okay.

“So happy to swim.”

It didn’t take long for the comment section to be flooded with messages about the adorable Golden.

@Camcamok said: “Scout trying not to be dramatic but literally needs a search and rescue.”

Another user wrote: “Scout said ‘how do I make this about me?'”.

Even PetSmart’s official account got involved, commenting: “It’s Scout’s world and we’re just living in it.”

While Golden Retrievers like Scout are known to be skilled swimmers, not all dogs are experts in the water.

Breeds like retrievers, poodles, Newfoundlands and Spaniels are great swimmers, while breeds like Bulldogs, pugs, dachshunds, and basset hounds are more on the clumsy side in the water, as a result of short legs, flat faces, and dense bodies making it difficult for them to stay afloat.

If you want to introduce your dog to water, it’s a good idea to start in the shallow water first.
