Samuel L. Jackson's role as Nick Fury in next summer's The Avengers may be in jeopardy. After one week, of filming, Nick's script was nicked - and Marvel are fury-ous.
Jackson, who signed up to an unprecedented nine-film deal for his role as SHIELD super-spy Fury, has starred in a number of Marvels in-house productions, such as Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, though fans have speculated whether the actor's high profile cock-up may endanger his future standing with the studio.
Filming began last week on Joss Whedon's highly ambitious The Avengers, which is aiming for a summer 2012 blockbuster release and brings together superheroes Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, replacing Ed Norton) and the stars of Marvel's cinematic hopes this summer, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Captain America (Chris Evans.
Supporting roles will also feature for Iron Man 2's Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Thor's Hawkeye and Loki (Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddlestone respectively).
It is unclear how Jackson's personal copy of the script was stolen, but it is likely that an on-set worker stole the heavily watermarked script and smuggled it from Marvel's shooting location for the superhero epic, which was either Albuquerque Studios or Universal Studios in LA.
The unnamed blogger has since offered the script to the highest bidder online, but is yet to receive a taker - not surprising, considering the sale is illegal. Daily film blog Obsessed With Film were offered the script and posted pictures that the seller sent to prove authenticity. You can find the pics here.
The Avengers is still set to hit cinemas on May 4, 2012, with Marvel officially stating that the theft will not halt production, despite early reports to the contrary. It was originally thought that the studio had authorised re-writes of the scenes that were posted online.
