They were having none of it

Tension have been building in the jungle following the latest episode of I’m A Celebrity after Dean McCullogh clashed with his co-star, leaving fans unhappy.

Saturday’s instalment from down under saw new arrivals Maura Higgins and Rev. Richard Coles attempt the first eating trial of the series in which they succedeed in winning a banquet of junk food for the rest of the camp.

After this buffet, Jane Moore, panellist on Loose Women, went to collect firewood, being responsible for ‘camp maintenance’ along with BBC Radio 1 host Dean McCullogh.

On the show tasks must be done in pairs, which Jane mentioned as she said: “I can’t go on my own.”

However, with her camp maintenance partner fast asleep she was left with a bit of a conundrum, deciding to head off anyway.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street cast member Alan Halsall went to wake Dean up, in order for him to accompany Jane.

Alan got little response from Dean as he spoke to him next to his bed, explaining the situation.

He finished off saying: “Do you not fancy it? No?”

With no response, Alan decided to accompany Jane to get wood.

However, only moments later Dean got up and joined the pair telling Alan he “can go back now”.

Catching the Corrie star by surprise Alan replied “Oh you made it! I was trying to wake you up as soft as I can.”

Dean replied: “If you’re gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute. Listen to me. If you’re gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes me a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright? So you don’t need to say to me ‘do you not fancy it?’ Okay? And then don’t turn around and walk away.”

The passive aggressive encounter worsened and the pair began to talk over eachother.

Dean said: “No, no, you listen to me.”

Alan responded: “I’ve listened to you. Jane was halfway down here, that’s why I went…”

Dean continued: “I know. I get that but you need to give me a minute, mate.”

Alan said: “I didn’t say it how you think I meant it, but if you’ve taken it that way, I apologise. […] I don’t think you’re gonna listen but that’s fine. I didn’t wanna wake you up […] I wasn’t having a go at you.”

Dean said: “I know, I don’t think you were having a go at me. I’ve not said that.”

With Dean sharing his thoughts in the bush telegraph later, he said: “He didn’t even give me a chance to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’.”

However, this interaction has led to many viewers being less than impressed with Dean’s passive aggressive attitude and took to social media to express their thoughts.

One person wrote: “Dean in I’m A Celeb is so rude”.

Another commenter said: “Just re-watched Dean talking to Alan like that. I’m still shook”.

Meanwhile, one user put: “Dean shouldn’t be talking to anyone like that whether he’s awake or asleep!”

Fair to see he’s not done any favours for himself with the watching public.
