A guitar formerly owned by Bono, and which was also played by Bruce Springsteen a couple of years ago, fetched a six-figure sum when sold at auction in Beverly Hills this week.
The Irish Falcon Gretsch instrument was sold for the equivalent of €101,000 by the auction house Julien’s on Sunday.
But famously kind-hearted Bono won’t benefit from the sale, with proceeds instead going to a charity founded by his U2 colleague The Edge.
The foundation, Music Rising, was set up to help out musicians in Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans floods in 2005.
