Rapper Rich Homie Quan has died at the age of 34.
The platinum-selling artist from Atlanta died on Thursday at his home in the city, according to his family and a representative from the Fulton County morgue.
His family told TMZ that they were “shattered and heartbroken by his sudden death.”
Rich Homie Quan, real name Dequantes Lamar, burst onto the scene in 2013 with his breakout hit Type of Way.
He went on to release songs such as ‘Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)’ and ‘Ride Out,’ and became a huge name in the rap scene in the mid-2010s.
During his career, he collaborated with big names such as 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Gucci Mane and Trinidad James.
Tributes have poured in from across the world of rap following the news of his passing.
Singe Jacquees wrote on X: “Rest in Peace my brother Rich Homie Quan. I love you for life.”
In a later post, he shared a picture of the rapper and labelled him a “legend.”
A cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
