His new name already appears in FX's official materials.

Rob McElhenney has filed to legally change his name.

PEOPLE confirmed that the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and creator filed to change his name due to confusion over the pronunciation.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the star will now be credited as Robert Mac in FX's materials for the long-running show in which he produces, writes and plays the character of Mac.

In May, the Emmy winner told Variety that he was eyeing the name change as people were struggling to pronounce McElhenney.

According to TMZ, he signed the documents on June 26.

“As our business and our storytelling is expanding into other regions of the world and other languages in which my name is even harder to pronounce, I’m just going by Rob Mac," he said highlighting his company More Better Industries' global investments.
