A Sausage Party sequel series is arriving on Prime Video this summer.

Cast your minds back to the summer of 2016. The UK had voted to leave the European Union, England had crashed out to Iceland in the Euros, and the eyes of the world were on Brazil for the Rio Olympics.

And in August of that summer, one of the most unique, bizarre, raucous and divisive comedies of recent years was released in cinemas.

The brain child of Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill and James Franco, Sausage Party saw this trio play anthropomorphised foods who discover what actually happens when they get bought and taken home by humans.

The film also starred the likes of Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz and Edward Norton, and its safe to say anyone who saw it didn’t forget it in a hurry (we won’t go into THAT final scene here).

Now, Prime Video have confirmed the release date for a follow-up series to the 2016 film – Sausage Party: Foodtopia,

Rogen, Wiig, Cera, Krumholtz and Norton will all return in their original roles for the series, with Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell and Yassir Lester all joining the cast as well.

The eight-part series will arrive on Prime Video on July 11.

Those who have seen the film will remember that it ends on a pretty meta note, but it seems like this won’t be followed up in the series, which will follow Frank, Brenda, Barry and Sammy as they try to build their own food society.

And we can be in little doubt that the series will be just as raucous as the film was, so you have been warned.

All episodes of Sausage Party: Foodtopia will be available to stream on Prime Video from July 11.
