Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is believed to be at the top of Alex Ferguson's transfer wishlist.
Following last week's events concerning Wayne Rooney's potential departure, Red Devils boss now has the backing of the Glazers to spend in order to futureproof the team at Old Trafford.
It is reported that the German is at the top of Fergie's list of players to target. Schweinsteiger, 26, could prove to be an ideal replacement for Paul Scholes, 35, who is nearing the end of his playing career.
Schweinsteiger has played first team football at Bayern Munich for nine seasons and during that time he's won the Bundesliga five times and may be ready for a new challenge elsewhere.
Other teams believed to be interested in Schweinsteiger include Chelsea and Inter Milan. He's valued at around €40million.
