Liverpool have been linked with a move for Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre after Kenny Dalglish watched him during the Hoops' 3-0 victory over Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
The Honduran defender, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, has been a huge success at Parkhead following his bargain basement move from Honduran club, Motagua, during the summer.
United were believed to be interested in signing Izaguirre as a replacement for Patrice Evra, who had been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
However, following the announcement that the France International had signed a contract extension at Old Trafford, Dalglish now has no serious competition to sign the defender, who represented his country in last year’s World Cup in South Africa.
Dalglish is looking for an accomplished left-back as he has been forced to play Glen Johnson out of position in recent weeks to accommodate the role, while Paul Konchesky has not impressed the manager and is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.
