Exiled Spurs striker Robbie Keane could be set for his third loan spell in 18 months, with QPR Neil Warnock eyeing a loan deal for the Tallaght man.
The 31-year-old, who endured an injury-plagued spell at the eventually-relegated West Ham United during the second half of the 2010/2011 Premier League season, is considered surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, seeking to overhaul his misfiring forward line, has apparently claimed that he will only sanction a move for the Irish captain on a permanent basis, according to this morning's Irish Sun report on the potential 'loan Ranger'.
After QPR's plan to sell star man Adel Taarabt to PSG fell apart last week, however, it's understood that a mooted £4-5m move could be beyond the modest budget of Neil Warnock's Championship-winning side.
QPR have already brought in Keiron Dyer and Jay Bothroyd in recent weeks and remain hopeful that they can add a little firepower to their squad before the Premier League kicks off in 15 days.
Warnock's men can expect to face rivalry for Keane's signature in the form of West Brom and Blackburn, the latter of whom lodged a swiftly-rejected £2m bid in late June. Perhaps we wouldn't be seeing Keane in unforgivable Venky's adverts anytime soon.
