US goalkeeper Tim Howard has called the post-Gold Cup final all-Spanish speeches as a "f****** disgrace".
Despite the US team having home advantage at the Rose Bowl for Saturday’s final, it was Mexico who romped to victory and had the majority of the 93,000 spectators in attendance supporting them.
Being naturalized US citizens made no difference to where allegiances lay for the final but Howard has taken issue with how the awards ceremony was conducted.
“CONCACAF should be ashamed of themselves,” the Everton ‘keeper said.
“You can bet your ass that if we were in Mexico City, it wouldn’t be all in English. I think it was a f****** disgrace that the entire post match ceremony was in Spanish.
"It never ceases to amaze me, all that stuff.”
Speaking to the LA Times, Mexican supporter Victor Sanchez said: “I love this country, it has given me everything that I have, and I'm proud to be part of it.”
“But yet, I didn't have a choice to come here, I was born in Mexico, and that is where my heart will always be.”
