Jonjo Shelvey has already made headlines against Man Utd this season, but last night he had a more memorable moment against the Red Devils.
By Declan Whooley
Sent-off earlier in the season for a challenge on Jonny Evans and that famous altercation with Fergie, he was at Old Trafford last night to get more game time under his belt as the U-21 sides squared up against each other, and it didn’t take long for Shelvey to make his mark.
Taking a pass from Suso, he smashed home a belter from 25 yards out, giving Ben Amos in goals no chance.
The game itself would finish 1-1 after Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan scored an own goal in the final 10 minutes but there is no doubt the main talking point was the wonder strike from the former Charlton player.
