Liverpool’s Danish defender Daniel Agger headed the ball out of the Anzhi Makhachkala keeper’s hand tonight...and had his goal disallowed.
The incident happened in the 80th minute of the two sides' Europa League match and as you see the keeper only had one hand on the ball, which usually means that’s fair game...or did the keeper bounce the ball three times in the box?
Either way Agger didn’t get the goal and was booked as you can see above.
Some newspapers have been indignant on Agger’s behalf this evening, while TV pundits are saying it’s the correct decision.
There’s also a precedent – Gary Crosby’s goal against Man City from 1990:
Either way Liverpool won 1-0 so it doesn’t make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things as Stewart Downing decided the match...so Agger's goal isn't the only oddity in this match...
