The Welsh Football Association have confirmed that Wales manager Gary Speed has died at the age of 42 after taking his own life.
In a written statement, the FA said: "We extend our sympathies and condolences to the family. We ask that everyone respects the family's privacy at this very sad time."
Under Speed's stewarship, the Wales side had undergone a resurgence on the international stage and exceeded all expectations since the former Leeds and Newcastle United star took the helm in February of this year.
It is understood that Speed was found hanged at his home in Chester this morning, while police have said that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
According to a spokesman for Chesire Police: "At 7.08am this morning, Sunday 27 November, police were informed of an incident at Aldford Road, Huntinton. Officers went to the scene where a 42-year-old man was found dead.
"There are no suspicious cirumstances surrounding the death and the next of kin have been informed."
