It says a lot about the Ireland game last night that the most entertaining thing about it was a feisty exchange of opinions between Richie Sadlier and Liam Brady afterwards.
With Eamon Dunphy crying off, Sadlier was called in as a last-minute replacement and although it would have been interesting to hear what Eamo had to say about the god-awful display last night, Sadlier’s views reflected the widespread opinion of Irish football fans after the match: that Trap must go.
Brady, of course, has worked with Trap in the past and was obviously going to stick up for the Italian, even if his defence – the players should hold a meeting and tell Trap how they want to play being one example – seemed a little threadbare at times.
Brady and Sadlier have history and provided some brilliant entertainment during the Euros when they discussed Trapattoni the day after the Spain game while another game was delayed because of a lightning scare.
You may have seen their exchange last night already, but there’s also a good chance you turned your TV off in disgust after watching what was one of the worst Irish performances in many a year and missed it.
It might be nearly 13 minutes long but it’s well worth a look. Check it out for yourself in the video above.
Hat-tip to Hal La Roux and Balls.ie for the video.
