Video: Watch Jose, Ronaldo and most of the Real Madrid squad laugh at Fabio Coentrao’s bench mix-up

Portuguese full-back Fabio Coentrao wasn’t in the matchday squad for Real Madrid’s game with Espanyol. Seems everybody knew except him.

Even though this video is in Spanish, you don’t need to understand a word to enjoy it. Real Madrid were playing Espanyol at the weekend and with the La Liga title all but gone, Joe Mourinho decided to rest a few players ahead of the Copa del Rey final this Friday.

One of those given the night off from playing was Coentrao but it seems he didn't get the message somehow. The 25-year-old tries to take a spot on the bench before Iker Casillas and Karim Benzema tell him he is not supposed to be there.

Coentrao takes some convincing and goes off to ask the staff, who also laugh at the unfortunate full-back. Jose then turns up and he has a good laugh at it. Cristiano Ronaldo is also baffled by his compatriot and there is more fun and games when Coentrao eventually gets up into the area for non-playing players.

He might be a while living this one down.
