There was some brilliant football played tonight in the Under 21 Football Championship, but this diving goal by Stefan Tierney is the picture of the night.
Once again the U21 Football Championship served up some top class Gaelic football. Longford, conquerors of Dublin last time out, raced into an 11-point lead over Wexford before the men from the south-east battled back to almost steal a heroic win. In the end they fell just one point short and the final score was 2-11 to 1-13.
The other Leinster clash was a much more one-sided affair as Kildare destroyed Laois 3-22 to 0-7.
Up in Ulster, Down beat Armagh 0-11 to 1-5, Antrim lost to Derry 4-12 to 1-9 and Cavan overcame Monaghan by four points after extra-time.
But the big game was the meeting of Tyrone and Donegal at Healy Park.
As has been the case with the seniors lately the Donegal came out the victors, 0-15 to 1-6 but the Red Hand goal, scored by Stefan Tierney, produced the picture of the night as he dived to palm the ball home.
