Jimmy McGuinness to ensure Europe’s winning matches at the Ryder Cup?

Jimmy McGuinness really is a man in demand with the news that he may be used by Paul McGinley in the build-up to next year’s Ryder Cup.

The Donegal boss is just finding his feet in his new role at Celtic Park, but McGinley could be ready to pull a wild-card and involve the Donegal man in the lead-up to the tournament.

The newly appointed European captain has admitted he has already set the wheels in motion and thinks he could contribute a huge amount to the team. He also revealed he highlighted McGuinness to Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond earlier in the year.

“Early last year, I marked Dermot Desmond's card about Jim. I told Dermot he was, as I put it, cutting edge and to keep an eye on him. Dermot replied that he would,” McGinley told the Irish Independent.

The Donegal boss isn’t the only GAA figure that McGinley is hoping to involve ahead of the event at Gleneagles.

“I'm a big fan of Mickey Harte's to the point where I've read everything he's written.  But I won't attempt to contact him until later in the year,” he said.

It seems like McGinley is going to draw on as many people as he can in order to give his side the edge. He could do a lot worse that to gain insights from McGuinness and Harte.
