The Roscommon and Mayo representative outfits in New York met in Gaelic Park recently and this guy must have been at the back of the line when they were handing out the gear beforehand.
The majority of inter-county and club sides in the GAA have fairly strict guidelines to follow in terms of the gear they wear these days (the top brass won’t be slow to hand out fines if they’re out of line) but as you go down the grades, the approach tends to get a little more lax to say the least.
Different coloured socks and shorts are not uncommon at games at junior level for example, but we don’t think we’ve seen anyone dressed as casually as this lad on the Roscommon representative team in New York in their game against old rivals Mayo in Gaelic Park recently.
The photograph isn’t the best quality but you get the picture and the casualness of the Roscommon lad is illustrated even more when he’s lined up alongside his Mayo counterpart in his full kit beside him.

Now that you’ve seen it, we’re sure that loads of you have examples of GAA players dressed in gear that doesn’t exactly conform to usual standards, so send them our way on our Facebook or Twitter pages or to [email protected] and we’ll be do our best to expose them to a greater audience.
Hat-tip to Gary Moore for sending this one into us
