This Ross Munnelly ‘point’ was ruled wide at the weekend. Ah lads...
In one of the two Division 2 games to survive the weather at the weekend, Derry played Laois at Celtic Park on Sunday.
In the end, Derry took the points courtesy of a 1-17 to 2-11 win. But a video posted on YouTube by a person called Laois Analyser clearly shows the margin should only have been two.
A shot at the posts by Laois’s Ross Munnelly clearly goes between the posts, strikes the back stanchion and pops back into play. Somehow this was ruled a wide.
We know the conditions were bad but if they are missing stuff like this, the sooner technology is brought in the better.
In another view here we can see the umpire on the right go to give the point, before seemingly changing his mind. Bizarre.
