We’ve heard of bad potholes in parts of the west of Ireland before but this is ridiculous.
Once upon a time, stories of giant potholes were all the rage in Ireland. Then we got all distracted with things like houses and The X Factor and the classic tale of bad road maintenance fell by the poorly tended wayside.
Maybe it’s the cutbacks but it seems that in at least one place, the massive craters in the road are back.

Sent to us by Keith Lodge, it shows him standing in a pothole that he claims is near Monivea in Galway. We don’t know how big Keith is but we think it is safe to say that the hole is at least three feet deep.
Sadly this shot is at night so we can’t really see how wide the hole is so if any of you have another pic of this monster, or any other giant pothole you have seen on Irish roads of late, do send it our way.
