She called Tupac her soulmate.
Just days on from confirming her separation from Will Smith seven years ago, Jada Pinkett Smith has now opened up about her ‘soulmate’ Tupac Shakur.
On Wednesday (October 11) Smith confirmed the news that her and Will Smith had been separated since 2016.
She said that despite being married in 1997, they have lived “completely separate lives” for the last seven years.
The news broke as Pinkett Smith was promoting her upcoming memoir, ‘Worthy’, and while promoting the book she has also opened up about her ‘soulmate’ Tupac Shakur.
In an interview with RollingOut, Jada revealed that she and the legendary hip hop star had “friendship” and “love” but no physical chemistry.
Pinkett Smith also suggested that they had “traveled” together in past lives.
When Jada was asked if she regretted deciding not to pursue Tupac romantically, she said: “It just wasn’t possible. There was no chemistry between us.”

Speaking about Tupac on an episode of Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO today, Jada also confessed that Tupac proposed to her in the form of a letter while he was serving a sentence for sexual assault in Rikers Island.
Reading out an excerpt from the letter, Jada read: “Now as I slip from grace and the world has turned against me a few claim to have love for me but once again you show your love.
“After deep reflection and spiritual awakening I have come to realise the friend, love and soulmate was there all the time. I have not seen or felt from anyone the intensity and loyalty that you have shown me.
“That is why I want to commit myself to you. I want to marry you.”
Jada turned down the proposal, however they did stay in touch before having a huge argument just before his death.
She recalled their final fight, which happened due to Tupac’s behavior after he got out of jail.
She recounted: “It was one of the biggest fights we ever had and it was about how he had been living you know.”
“I really at that time had to let him know my position that I just felt like where he was sitting with everything was just – it wasn’t going to end up well. We had a magnanimous – I mean it was just beyond the two of us – just at each other,” she continued.
“And I was just like ‘f**k that’, I’m not calling him this time, he’s going to have to call me, he was way out of line. So I really dug my heels heels in the ground. I let my pride, I let my ego come in,” she added of their last fight, a year after which the rapper was shot dead at 25 years of age.
“I really took for granted that he would be living forever, he had already survived so much. I looked at Pac as being invincible at this point…
“That was the last time I spoke to him and you know what’s crazy, it meant absolutely nothing.”
Tupac Shakur was only 25 when he was gunned down at a red light at East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, Las Vegas. He had been to a Mike Tyson fight that night.
Despite being rushed to hospital, Tupac succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after.
Though 27 years have now passed since Tupac’s deaths, it was just a matter of weeks ago when the first arrest was made.
