Calling all aspiring singers and musicians: Want to win €1500 and perform in Whelan’s?

Are you an aspiring rock star or the next Justin Bieber?

The Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest is back and we want to offer you the chance to play to a full house in Whelan’s and win part of a €2500 prize fund. Unlike other musical competitions, you won’t need an emotional back story to succeed. This is all about talent and your ability to blow us away with a great cover song. Sounds good, right? All you have to do is record yourself performing a cover of your favourite song and send it in to us to be in with a chance of winning. We’ll then select five finalists who’ll perform their song to a packed audience in Whelan’s on 23 March. The overall winner will pocket an impressive €1500 but the four runners up will also pick up €250, and get the chance to showcase their talent on the night. So what do you need to do? Simply send us your recording on an MP3 or an MP4 to be in with a chance. There are three ways to submit your entries.

• Email it to LeCrunch@maximummedia.ie with your file attached or a link to your YouTube video included in the body of the email. You must also include your contact details in the email.
• Publicly share it on your Facebook page with the hashtag #LeCrunchSongs (we’ll contact you to get contact details if you’re shortlisted as a semi-finalist).
• Post your video on Twitter with the hashtag #LeCrunchSongs (we’ll contact you to get contact details if you’re shortlisted as a semi-finalist).

The closing date for entries is 20 February, 2017. The five finalists will then be chosen by a combination of a panel of judges and a public vote. Three of the finalists will be selected by the judges and the final two places will be decided by a public vote on the competition website. Judges on the night will include JOE.ie editor Paddy McKenna and HamSandwicH's lead singer Niamh Farrell. It’s a great opportunity to get your name out there, show people exactly what you can do, and potentially win some nice money to boot. So what are you waiting for?
