Heroin found in RTÉ canteen toilets

Traces of heroin were found in the toilets of the RTÉ canteen, according to reports in the Irish Sun.

A Sun reporter gained access to the studios of RTÉ and proceeded to swab for illegal drugs with the aid of a testing kit.

“Suspected traces of street heroin” were found on the lid of a toilet in the main canteen.

RTÉ’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kevin Dawson believes that The Sun should “make available to the gardaí without delay all of the information and materials in its possession.”

He added that “the traces as described have been found in the part of RTÉ’s premises most frequently accessed both by staff and by visitors to RTÉ including the general public” and that the station would “await advice from the gardaí and will co-operate fully.”
