Today’s Daily Download is a particularly poignant one as news reaches us that Ray Manzarek, founding member and legendary keyboardist with iconic American rock band The Doors, has died.

There’s no better time than the present then to check out what made the man and his virtuoso organ-playing so brilliant in the first place, and so today’s recommended download is the band’s 1967 self-titled debut album, The Doors.

It has sold over 12.5 million copies since its release (of which this JOE owns two on CD so you’re welcome The Doors) and was ranked as the 42nd best album of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

Featuring absolutely brilliant tunes from start to finish, here’s a wee taster of the band’s excellent breakthrough single, Light My Fire.

Bonus – it’s here in all its 45 RPM goodness.

And no, they didn’t copy it off Will Young you absolute bert:

If you’re downloading the album, and you should, you’ll want a serious broadband connection, so check out all the deals at Magnet, who will be filling your Fatpipe in no time with all the best in music and entertainment.
