It’s fair to say that a perfectly-melted, golden brown toastie is one of the most satisfying snacks on the planet.
When done right, it’s simply better than anything else.
So with thanks to our friends at Dairygold, we’ve decided to put together a list of our 10 favourite places to get toasties.
Without further ado.
10. Fiorentini’s, Derry
They may be best-known for their fresh fish suppers and their homemade ice cream, but my god, these guys are well able to make a fine toasted sandwich too.
9. Costigan’s Bar, Cork
From north to south now, as Costigan’s of Cork was always going to make it onto our list. They do the simple things very, very well.

8. John Fallon’s “The Capstan Bar”, Dublin
The first place from the capital to make our list, Fallon’s is synonymous with simple good food. If you’re in a rush and you need some grub, then look no further.
7. Loaves & Fishes, Athlone
Probably the tastiest toasties in The Midlands.
6. Fallon & Byrne, Dublin
An infamous City Centre staple where they make toasted sandwiches that are amongst the best in the country.
5. Grogan’s, Dublin
Everybody knows Grogan’s and everybody loves Grogan’s. Their toasted sandwiches are the stuff of legend.

4. McCambridges, Galway
‘The Best In The West’ is a title McCambridges of Galway can certainly claim when it comes to toastie-making.
3. Mellon’s, Dublin
If you know it, then you are one of the lucky ones as Mellon’s is one of Dublin’s finest hidden gems. It’s a tough place to find, but you’ll certainly be glad you looked.

2. The Wholy Grain, Cork
The Wholy Grain gives Cork a little slice of heaven with their fantastic and tastey toasties. Unlucky to miss out on the top spot.
1. Green Bench Café, Dublin
A worthy winner, this place knows all the key ingredients for making great toasted sandwich.
And yes, that pun was intended.
