Man in County Down wins a million quid… from a scratchcard

The lucky so and so

That’s right, a scratchcard.

Pretty much every Irish person will have won something from a scratchcard in their lives, whether it be a few quid, a few thousand quid or most thrillingly of all… another scratchcard.

We’ve never heard of anyone win a prize anything like one lucky fecker in County Down recently, who claimed £1million (approximately €1.36million) from a scratchcard he picked up in a Tesco in the town of Knocknagoney recently.

Martin McKenna told the Belfast Telegraph that he popped into the Tesco to get some groceries for his dinner and decided to pick up a National Lottery Millionaire 777 Red scratchcard while he was at it.

Much to his surprise and delight, it returned a cool £1million, a bounty for which Martin has fairly mundane plans it must be said.

“I always wanted to own a Volkswagen,” Martin said.

“I want to buy a new house, clear my debts and treat my family and friends.”

Two Volkswagens eh? Livin’ the dream Martin, livin’ the dream.
