This young married couple is cycling back to Ireland from South Korea for charity

Stef Russell and Nick Doran are looking to make a massive amount of money for charity.

This is one of the more admirable charity initiatives we’ve seen – a Dublin couple are planning to cycle back to Ireland from South Korea, where they have lived since 2011.

Stef Russell and Nick Doran recently got married and are preparing for the next stage of their lives back home, but they’re going to have a hell of a time getting here.

They plan to spend the next seven to nine months cycling home and it’s all in aid of Headstrong, the Irish National Centre for Youth Mental Health.

Stef and Nick are aiming to raise €15,000 each – or €30,000 – which translates to roughly €1 a kilometre all the way from South Korea to Dublin Port.

“We aim to cycle from Hongseong, South Korea to Dublin, Ireland over the course of seven to nine months, starting in March 2016,” they write on their website.

“This is a distance of approximately 15, 000 kilometres. We plan to avoid all air travel but will undertake three ferry journeys: one from Incheon, South Korea to Qingdao, China; one from Rotterdam, Netherlands to Hull, England and one from Holyhead, Wales to Dublin, Ireland.”

Nick and Stef insist that all money raised will go directly to Headstrong, and that it will not be used to cover travelling expenses.
