A very sound gesture from Liberty Insurance.

Liberty Insurance have announced that they will provide free car hire and vehicle assessments to all policy holders impacted by the Douglas Village Shopping Centre fire last Saturday (31 August).

The fire left over 200 vehicles trapped in the shopping centre’s car park, and as a result, many families have been left without access to their cars.

It’s not yet known how many of these vehicles have been damaged by the fire.

Liberty Insurance have said that they will provide policy holders with free car hire for up to 15 days while their vehicle is being assessed or remains inaccessible.

In both scenarios, a policy holder’s no claims bonus will not be impacted.

Additionally, should a policy holder be required to make a claim for fire damage, their no claims bonus will not be impacted.

Any affected customers should contact the Claims Helpline number on 1850 85 8530 for further information.

A spokesperson at Liberty Insurance said: “The Douglas Village Shopping Centre fire has proven very traumatic and disruptive for many of our Cork based policy holders.

“We are committed to working with our policy holders in any way we can to ease the stress and disruption caused by the fire.

“To this end, we have committed to providing a free car hire service for our affected policy holders.

“This commitment extends to both policy holders who will be required to make a claim and those whose vehicle may not have been damaged by the fire but have been unable to access their vehicle until the wider damage has been assessed. In both scenarios their no claims bonus will remain unaffected.”
