Carzone have revealed the most popular cars of the year so far, with the demand for electric cars evident to see on a list of the most-viewed models on the website in the first quarter of 2022.
Six of the top 10 cars on the most-viewed list are electric, with one hybrid cracking the list.
The Volkswagen Golf took the top slot as the most-viewed car on the site this year, having also done likewise in 2021.
Here are the top 10 most viewed models in Ireland in 2022 so far;

- BMW 5 Series
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class
- BMW 3 Series
- Audi A6
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class
- Ford Focus
- Hyundai Tucson
- BMW X5
- Audi A4
The electric Hyundai Ioniq is the most-viewed new car in Ireland (221), followed by the Kia Sportage in second place and the Volkswagen ID.4 in third place.
The Ioniq has leapt up the rankings, going from the seventh most popular electric vehicle on the site to the top spot.
The most-viewed diesel cars are the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6.
The most-viewed petrol models are mostly hatchback models including the Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta.
“So far this year we have seen several new models introduced to the market, but our data shows that car buyers are sticking to what they know when it comes to researching a car purchase,” said Carzone Audience Manager Karl Connolly.
“The most-viewed cars on our platform have remained mostly unchanged from 2021. However, we have seen the most change in the EV category where the market continues to expand rapidly in accordance with consumer demand, and more models are made available.”
