Here are the 5 best movies on the TV tonight

Rory Cashin

Furious 7

There are at least two movies tonight that will have you crying your eyes out.

Listen, we all know that some movies are going to make us cry.

They’ve been designed to make us cry, and that is totally fine.

But did ANY OF US have any idea that the seventh entry in the Fast & Furious franchise would have us all complete and total blubbering messes? We were unprepared, but for a movie that involves Jason Statham getting into a hammer fight with The Rock, the fact that it could reduce us to whimpering tears is quite the accomplishment.

Anyways, on with the list of the best movies you can enjoy on the telly tonight…

WEDNESDAY 29 JULY

About Time – Film 4 – 6.40pm

Domhnall Gleeson. Rachel McAdams. Time travel. Love conquering all. More emotions and tears than one viewer can deal with. Pretty much crying from the opening credits and not stopping for hours. Yep, we LOVE this movie to bits.

Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan – SyFy – 9.00pm

The one in which Kirk shouts “KKHHHHHAAAAAAANNNN!”. The one which actually feels more like a submarine thriller that just happens to be set in space. Arguably the best one of the lot, to be honest.

Beverly Hills Cop – Sky One – 9.00pm

Did you know that this role was originally supposed to go to Sly Stallone? We’re happy that it didn’t, because Eddie Murphy is absolutely perfect as the street-wise cop that ends up working the high-end blocks of Beverly Hills.

Fast & Furious 7 – ITV 2 – 9.00pm

The one in which Jason Statham is hunting them all down. The one in which a car jumps out of one skyscraper, dodges a rocket in mid-air, and then crashes into another skyscraper. The one in which The Rock busts out of an arm cast simply by flexing his muscles. After Fast Five, arguably the second best of the lot.

Just Friends – E! Entertainment – 9.00pm

Ryan Reynolds is the former unpopular teen-turned-super buff agent who returns to his hometown a successful man, but quickly reverts to his dorkier ways when surrounded by family and past crushes. Anna Faris steals every scene she’s in as a ditzy diva who wants to go “all Bono-y”.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
